Magazine Redesign for 032c 49th Issue Summer 2026

032c’s redesign keeps the chaos—then imposes a 32-line rule.

Bureau Borsche led a complete redesign of 032c for its 49th issue, marking the start of a new chapter for the publication. The new design introduces a reworked logo, silver accent color, and a strict 32-line grid, creating a cohesive system that extends across print, digital, and fashion platforms.

Set in Akzidenz-Grotesk, Sabon

Insights

The main design move is a full reset, not a refresh: Bureau Borsche says Issue 49 “marks the beginning of a new chapter,” introducing a reworked logo, silver as a much bigger accent, and a strict 32-line grid across every page.
Mirko Borsche's system is deliberately "very German": each page contains exactly 32 lines, with Akzidenz-Grotesk — which Borsche calls "the grandmother of Helvetica" — for headlines and Sabon for body copy, a deliberate return of a serif to the mix.
The redesign also revives old magazine mechanics: longer headlines and introductions replace short ones, while end-marks and jump-lines return to signal article endings and continuations.
Borsche explicitly frames silver as an evolution of 032c’s identity: red and black stay, but silver—previously only occasional—now plays a much bigger role across the magazine’s visual system.
Issue 49 is substantial in scale at 316 pages plus a 48-page Eros supplement, and the system is designed to extend beyond print into digital and 032c’s fashion output, with Joerg Koch as editor-in-chief and creative director and Borsche as the new art director.
