A camera company built its cultural platform around the artists, not the cameras.
Stockholm Design Lab created a platform for Sigma Foundation, an initiative founded by Kazuto Yamaki to support and promote photography as an art form. The foundation collaborates with artists worldwide to produce and showcase new work, independent of camera brand usage. The case highlights Stockholm Design Lab’s role in shaping editorial and publishing outcomes around photographers including Trevor Key, Sølve Sundsbø, and Julia Hetta. Through books and artist-focused presentation, the project frames photography as both artistic practice and cultural exchange, connecting experimental image-making, technological exploration, and quiet observation across different contexts.
