Packaging Design for Bose Dewdrop Mint Earbuds
Bose turned earbuds into a fake mint tin.
Hello Comrade created a limited-edition seeding campaign for Bose QuietComfort Earbuds in the Dewdrop Mint colorway. The earbuds were packaged in a convincing hard-mint tin with a spoof nutrition label and photographed in everyday settings to turn the product drop into a cultural talking point.
Insights- Hello Comrade’s core move was to make the colorway itself the launch mechanism: Dewdrop Mint became a vintage-style hard-mint tin, not a standard tech mailer, so the packaging did the work of introducing the product.
- The spoof is highly detailed: a clamshell hinge, embossed lid artwork, and a back panel that reads like a nutrition label with lines such as “Total Noise 0g,” “Background Chatter 0mg,” and “Total Immersion 100%.”
- Inside, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds and charging case sit in mint-green foam under the line “Something Fresh Just Dropped,” reinforcing the joke from copy to structure.
- The seeding campaign went to a curated group of global influencers, so the package itself functioned as the product reveal rather than just protective packaging.
- Photography extended the trompe-l’oeil effect by placing the tin in everyday scenes—a diner tray, grocery bag, handbag, and denim jacket—so it reads like an actual mint tin until the earbuds are discovered; DIELINE called it clever, fun, functional, and reusable.
