In their own words
I’m most likely heading to Queensland Art Gallery, they have an exhibition on the world building and characters by The Jim Henson Company at the moment but otherwise I’d wander around the permanent collections, head to the gallery store after to check out any new art books or magazines.
I just got the latest issue of Tools Magazine delivered, (Issue 6: To Blow) exploring the act of blowing so I am just waiting to clock off so I can get stuck into that. I love reading and being inspired by craft processes and this is my go-to for that.
The Green – It is always our go-to for a long lunch, lots of different small plates of the best Mediterranean food, tucked out of the way on James St.
Going to the movies is my favourite weekend activity so hopefully Primetime has some sessions available and I can go watch that with a bucket of popcorn.
I’ve been eyeing off a couple of rugs from the Olive Cooke collection with Double Studio so I just need to photoshop them in the space under my dining table to see which is the best fit (and yes I will be doing it the old fashioned way on photoshop not AI!)
I Wrote You a Letter by M83 has been on repeat lately, it is such a good one to have on in the background while creating.
I’ve been documenting patterns on petals, leaves and flowers for over a year so I had taken this Instax of some fallen orchid petals. It felt only fitting with my latest release of phone case designs with The Dairy that launched last week.
I have always been drawn to the beauty and accessory space when it comes to subject matter.
For me, adding that created by-hand element adds so much life to the work, and that feels essential during the rise of artwork being created by AI.
I love looking back at crafts I did as a child and seeing how I could adapt that process to create something that feels modern.
