NJR developed the Building Blocks for Youth Participation to help policymakers and organizations involve young people in meaningful ways. The project acknowledges that youth participation is complex, with trade-offs and real-world friction rather than a simple step-by-step process. The design studio created a digital platform that both inspires and reveals that complexity. Using the Rubik’s Cube as the central metaphor, the website encourages exploration, play, and action through interactive navigation that rewards curiosity and movement. The platform turns abstract principles into a practical, engaging resource, giving policymakers tools to support genuine collaboration with young people and drive real change.
