Custom Typeface Development For Norway’s National Stage For Contemporary Dance

Dansens Hus, Norway’s national stage for contemporary dance, engaged Schick Toikka to create a custom version of their Dia typeface, which would serve as a foundational element for their new identity. The resulting font, Dia Dans, includes two stylistic sets designed to allow the mixing of conventional and distorted characters, enabling users to convey varying degrees of motion. This typeface features both solid and outline variants, enhancing versatility in its application. The collaboration with design studio Neue further solidified the project’s objective of expressing the dynamic art of dance through typography.
