Brand Identity for TikTok Music
TikTok Music turned serendipitous discovery into a visual system.
DixonBaxi reimagined TikTok Music around serendipitous discovery, where tracks emerge through creators, content and culture rather than genre boundaries. The identity positions the platform as “Everyone’s Boombox,” built for music to be shared, remixed and reimagined.
Insights- DixonBaxi reframed TikTok Music around serendipitous discovery: tracks arrive through creators, edits, jokes, dances, and cultural moments, not only genre-based recommendations. The identity line became “One Spark. Everyone’s Boombox.”
- The system was designed to feel alive and remixable: typography stretches and contracts with rhythm, motion finds its own cadence, and colour shifts with mood and energy. Each genre can develop its own visual character without becoming a separate brand.
- TikTok/DixonBaxi-presented performance figures used in the case include 6B+ saves, 84% of chart hits starting here, and 74% more music discovery. DixonBaxi clarified the 6B+ figure means more than six billion track saves in the prior year.
- Aporva Baxi writes, “On TikTok, music isn't simply listened to. It's discovered, shared, remixed and reinvented.” DixonBaxi’s own summary adds: “This is where songs enter culture before they become streams. It’s not the shop. It’s the spark.”
- The project sat inside a broader collaborative TikTok refresh involving Global Brand Studio, consumer-design, and product teams, with TikTok Sans serving as the typographic backbone of the wider identity.
