CoFo developed CoFo Robert Sans, a friendly grotesque that expands the Robert type family while preserving its 19th-century British-inspired slab-serif DNA. Designed by Liza Rasskazova, the typeface was created to fill a gap in the CoFo library for a warmer, more versatile sans serif suitable for book design, identity systems, and digital interfaces. The project introduced stylistic alternates, small caps, multiple figure styles, and broad typographic functionality, while improving readability at small sizes through adjusted proportions and increased x-height. CoFo also refined distinctive glyphs such as a, R, Я, g, and G to balance heritage with usability.
The Brand Identity features Contrast Foundry’s new serif typeface CoFo Holz, designed by Nikita Sapozhkov. Inspired by woodcut techniques and historical type specimens, the font balances sharp and soft details to achieve both expressive display and readable text use. The article explores its design process, historical influences, and Sapozhkov’s vision for its creative applications.
