Motion Graphics for 1,001 Threads of Mizan
Lost game history unfolds as a paper world with just one hard cut.
Territory Studio created motion graphics for the worldwide reveal of MBC Game Studio’s debut title, 1,001 Threads of Mizan. Led by director David Adam Roth, the work carries audiences through generations of lost history to establish Mizan’s mythology and a sense of discovery.
Insights- The studio interprets the literary source as a living storybook, using layered pages, cutout-like figures and unfolding dioramas to connect mythology with the game world.
- Hari and Deepti’s paper dioramas informed the tactile 2.5D treatment. The case describes illustrated layers rather than documenting a physically filmed paper model.
- Illustration planes were arranged along dimensional tracks in Cinema 4D, so camera movement could link spaces as they folded and transformed.
- With only one hard cut, transitions carry the narrative between eras and emotional beats instead of merely separating scenes.
