Product Design for a Contemporary Lounge Chair
A lounge chair that moves when you do
LAYER extends Andreu World’s Hula collection into a compact lounge chair. An enveloping upholstered seat and continuous base carry the family’s circular geometry into relaxed seating. A rear handle and concealed castors support movement, while a weight-activated locking mechanism stabilises the mobile version when occupied.
Insights
- The circular language connects a new seating category to the existing Hula family without repeating the original stool.
- Concealed castors and a rear handle make mobility part of the furniture’s use rather than a separate accessory.
- The weight-activated lock resolves the tension between easy relocation and stability during sitting.
