A Multi-user Vr Installation For Mahalla: Urban Rural Living
Giga created a multi-user VR installation in Dubai as an extension of Mahalla: Urban Rural Living. The experience reunites grainy point-cloud 3D scans of vanished mahalla neighborhoods with the architectural fragment first shown at the Venice Biennale, using the built structure as a physical scaffold and a clear route. Inside headsets, visitors entered together and navigated the same shared void, turning documentation into a temporary commons where presence is negotiated and loss is felt. By treating data as material, Giga emphasized collective closeness over narration, sustaining a quieter pace within a fast city—a room designed to stand inside what is gone.
