An architecture identity with two distinct personalities
The Design Office of David McGillivray created an identity and website for Groth, an architecture and product design studio working across interiors, furniture, objects and material research. A rounded, almost bulbous wordmark brings an approachable character to a system that also needs to communicate technical depth. The studio’s existing ball-in-a-box symbol was redrawn, then animated by Patrick Finn to appear as though it is being drawn. The website separates architecture from research and design into two independently scrolling sections. Photography of finished spaces sits alongside diagrammatic wireframes and architectural drawings, while the research section uses structured typography and a peach background reminiscent of printed academic papers. Rusty-orange Colorplan business cards bring the warmer side of the identity into print.
