Netflix Bass X Machina
BUCK turns Bass Reeves’ fractured world into a graphic fever dream.
BUCK created the opening titles and logo for Netflix’s Bass X Machina, an animated reimagining of Bass Reeves’ life. Working with Brian Tyree Henry and the show’s creative team, the studio developed a fever-dream sequence that brings together Western, anime, Afrofuturist and steampunk influences. Propaganda-poster imagery and bold silhouettes meet a restricted red, white and blue palette. The titles accompany an original track performed by Janelle Monáe, while the logo extends the visual language through distressed typography and an oversized X.
