Event graphics and wayfinding for the World Chess Championship in New York

Shuka Brand Bureau developed the visual applications for the 2016 World Chess Championship in New York. Building on a key visual created by textandpictures.org and an event identity by Pentagram, Shuka translated the concept into a full event system across merchandise and venue navigation. The work extended the chessboard logic into the urban fabric of New York, using graphic overlays and typography to create a bold, recognizable presence for the championship. Shuka Brand Bureau’s contribution helped visitors navigate the Fulton Market building and supported a strong merchandise program that sold out by the end of the event. The result framed the championship as both an intellectual contest and a citywide cultural moment.
