Custom typeface design for a contemporary type studio

Schick Toikka sought to create a contemporary typeface that incorporates features from a historical genre marked by pointed serifs and harmonized capitals. The typeface, named Apris, showcases a moderate stroke weight contrast and concave serifs, while also embracing modern design principles. With a family of six weights ranging from Thin to Black, each with matching italics, Apris is versatile enough for various applications, including print and digital media. The design process considered both historical references and contemporary typographic needs, enabling it to resonate with a wide range of aesthetics and functionalities. Apris balances modern design sensibility with traditional typesetting, making it appealing for projects that demand a distinctive visual presence.
