Halloween Campaign for Hay Day
Hay Day invites a ghost to play.
Forsman & Bodenfors brought paranormal television into Hay Day’s Halloween campaign for Supercell. In Haunted Farms, Most Haunted presenter Yvette Fielding visits Cogges Manor Farm in Oxfordshire to invite a ghost to play the farming game. The film borrows the tension, night-vision imagery and séance format of a ghost investigation, setting them against Hay Day’s cosy world. The campaign connects the farm’s ghost lore with the seasonal character, the Red Revenant. Directed by Torbjörn Martin through B-Reel Films, the campaign was created for digital, social and in-game touchpoints.
Insights
- The campaign connects a real filming location and its ghost lore to an in-game Halloween character.
- Fielding’s role and the investigation format draw on the conventions of Most Haunted.
- Night-vision footage and a séance introduce horror imagery into Hay Day’s otherwise cosy setting.
