Typeface Design for ES Park Mono
A fixed-width grid with the curves of a baroque slab serif.
Designed by Xavier Erni and developed by Lisa Schultz for Extraset, ES Park Mono combines monospaced spacing with baroque-influenced slab-serif forms. Eight weights with matching italics offer alternate terminals and letterforms; a variable font is available on request with the complete family.
Set in ES Park Mono
Insights- Designed by Xavier Erni and developed by Lisa Schultz, ES Park Mono places the organic curves of ES Park inside a fixed-width rhythm, contrasting expressive letterforms with strict monospacing.
- Its curves draw on Clarendon and American Typewriter, while narrower slab serifs and lower contrast in lighter weights distinguish the family’s construction.
- Default mini-serif terminals give the letters an ornamental edge; Stylistic Set 1 switches them to round terminals for a softer expression.
- Eight weights with matching italics give the monospaced family 16 styles; the foundry also offers a variable file on request after purchase of the complete family.
