Circles, squares and triangles are the only shapes that are genuinely universal. You know them before you can read. There’s no barrier of interpretation.
The ‘W’ in particular echoes the same rounded angles that define the symbol, creating direct continuity between the wordmark and the icon.
Instead of relying on warm browns and earthy tones, colours typically used to communicate coffee, we focused on building a mood.
The minimalism in Flow is not about stripping things down, but about curating them with intention.
a premise for cultural exchange and a catalyst for new ideas
Each colour of the brand is also linked to a specific book genre, creating a direct communication system that helps visitors navigate the library
Recent™ developed a geometric, approachable brand identity for Olla, a liquid staking protocol built on the Aztec network. Using circle, square, and triangle as the foundation, the design communicates liquidity, stability, and accessibility through simple forms, warm colors, and clear typography. The identity aims to make DeFi feel inviting and trustworthy rather than technical or exclusive.
The Brand Identity features Recent™’s branding for Flow, a specialty coffee and brunch café in Amsterdam. The identity draws inspiration from coffee filter paper shapes, creating a continuous wordmark and modular system that express calm energy and forward motion. A restrained monochrome palette with mint accents and custom typography define the brand’s refined yet approachable tone.
Recent™ collaborated with Pre-Reserved and Amsterdam’s OBA to create Studio C, a modular cultural lab that redefines the library experience. The identity and spatial design are unified through a kit-of-parts system, featuring modular furniture, a pegboard-inspired typeface, and a colour system tied to book genres. The project merges youth culture energy with library functionality, resulting in a flexible and coherent environment.
